The blog has been somewhat neglected recently. I’m working quite a bit and have a ton of stuff to do in my ‘free time’ for chief resident duties before the new interns start in July. Kelly is now back to work. Despite the daily and sometimes more frequent question of, “Do I need to go back to work,” she unfortunately got the same answer each time. She started a new position when she went back so not only is she getting acclimated to work again, she’s learning the quirks of a new position.
Chloe is getting bigger and bigger. It was exciting when she graduated from all the newborn 5-8 pound clothes. She’s made it all the way to size 1-2 diapers and is in 1-3 months old clothes. The reflux is fairly well controlled now. With prevacid twice daily, reglan three times a day, and Kelly doing absolutely no dairy or mayo in her diet…Chloe does great! Considering Kelly’s love for cheese, it’s been impressive to see her give up so many things she liked. Chloe’s appetite actually is at the point that Kelly is just barely keeping up. Ironically, Kelly’s doctor prescribed her reglan too, which will make a woman’s milk supply increase. Long story short, Kelly had a severe reaction to the reglan (called dystonic reaction). I was coming home one afternoon from being on call and Kelly told me she didn’t feel good and said her teeth felt twisted. It was primarily her jaw when I got home that was displaced similarly to what this girl's jaw is doing. Multiple doses of IV benadryl in the ER later…she was better.
The baby sitter is great. She sends Kelly pictures and emails during the day. The first day at the baby sitter was the day after Kelly’s medicine reaction so Kelly was actually anxious to be alone with Chloe still that day so indirectly that helped ease Kelly’s feelings of leaving Chloe.
