‘Tis the Season!

DSC01178

As you can see, Chloe didn’t exactly think Santa was that neat of a guy this morning.  We went to Grandma Karen’s work because they have an annual pancake breakfast with Santa.  Despite a significant number of ‘Sannnnnntaaa’ comments from Chloe in the last week and her daddy being on a Santa look-a-like weight plan lately, she was not the least bit excited to be on his lap.  Trey was the angel of the two and was more than content to let Santa hold him.

Chloe did come around though when we ate breakfast.  Nearly two pancakes and a sausage link later, she was properly introducing and excusing herself out of every conversation in the building with ‘HIIIII’ and ‘BYEEEE’ two seconds after greeting people.

Here’s a photo gallery of some other pictures from today.

Chloe has been more manipulative than normal lately and is able to squeeze a few more ‘BOOOOOK’ readings from mommy or daddy before going to sleep.  Tonight was a different book.  Mommy and daddy just had to hold the book and kiddos while Grandma Lewis did the reading.

New Toy and More

IMG-20101113-00014

Trey’s got a new toy and it’s a wonderful multi-purpose toy.  It works for entertainment, helping his development, and as a baby sitter…

The person that took the above picture was consuming an alcoholic beverage and watching football; hence, the babysitter comment posted above.

Trey had his 4 month well child check last week and he tipped the scales at 14 lbs 2 oz and 24 inches long.  That puts him in the 10-20 percentile for height and weight so it’s nice to see family genetics are already rearing their ugly identity with him.

Chloe is currently in a repeat everything somebody says mode.  Oatmeal, cereal, daddy is the best to ever walk the earth, and apple are some of her new things to say.  Oh yeah…and DOOOORA!!  She has Dora slippers and a ton of Dora stickers that Chloe is extremely interested in having often as well as Dora on the TV.

Chloe has been working on her life skills and earning her keep around the house.  The most recent skill is her attention to floor tidiness.

No doubt, kids grow up amazingly fast.  Just the other day it seems Chloe was crawling but now she’s driving.  It’s yet to be determined who is the better driver between Chloe and mommy.

Happy Halloween and Trey’s Baptism!

Last weekend was hectic to say the least.  Chloe started off the weekend with a birthday party for a little girl down the street on Saturday.  Since it was atypically warm for October, she didn’t get to wear her original costume.  Thankfully, Grandma Lewis had brought a tutu up for Chloe so she was a ballerina Saturday.  The birthday party was very neat as they had multiple little stations set up for the kids to play at in their back yard.  Chloe’s favorite was the bubble machine…she loves her bubbles.

Sunday morning was Trey’s baptism at St Pius.  We were very nervous how both Chloe and Trey would do since mass was at 11:00.  Chloe didn’t get her morning nap and Trey has been eating quite a bit during the day.  Trey slept all through mass and was great during the baptism.  He actually smiled when the oil was put on his forehead and when the water was poured over his head.  Chloe needed some time to run around but she was awesome too.  Kenny and Carrie are the godparents!  After the baptism, everyone came back to the house to eat BBQ and watch the Chiefs game.

Sunday night was obviously Halloween.  The weather was much more what you would expect for late October.  Chloe and Trey both had costumes and we went out to raid the neighborhood with Grandma Lewis.  Trey didn’t last as long as Chloe due to the cold weather.  It took some time, but Chloe started to get into a groove.  Once she got a bite of Reese’s, she was quick to each house and grab in her stash of candy.  She also wouldn’t let anyone carry her trick or treat pumpkin OR her!

Trey & Blue Bear…4 Months Together

It's crazy to think Trey is already 4mos old. He sits up some and has rolled over a few times from tummy to back. He had about a week when he was sleeping through the night, but he's reverted back to wanting a 3am snack. The scariest thought though...he's just one diaper size below Chloe!

Hi Everyone!

The Lewis' have been a little busy & tired over the last month and the blog has been neglected.

DSC01076

We have been spending a TON of time outside with all of the beautiful weather.  We have been exploring our neighborhood and all of the walking trails so close to our home.  We load up the kiddos and head out. We (Kelly) recently decided to let Chloe out of the stroller and walk on her own.  Little did I know she would REFUSE to get back into the stroller at any point on the walk OR any other walks for that matter.  She amazed everyone with how far she could walk/run.  Her longest bout out of the stroller has been from 79th street to 83rd street, along a few other trails, and back to our house.  For those of you who have been to our house you know there are hills every where including our driveway...this does not slow the little monster down at all :-)!

We've been taking at least 1 walk a day and then Chloe and I stroll up and down our street without the stroller, dad, or Trey after dinner.  We've met a ton of neighbors this way...mostly do to Chloe being so social and literally saying "Hi" to every man, woman, child, animal, tree, etc. regardless of how far or how close they may be to her. :-)

Trey is also doing awesome. He is sooooo sweet and growing so quickly!  On 9/1 he weighed 11lbs 50z and was 23in long.  He is such a smiley baby and has started laughing every now and then. He loves the sayings "Did you poop?” and “WOOOOOW." It's sounds icky but seeing him smile makes me do it about 100 times a day.  He loves to eat and but is very inconsistent on sleeping.  He'll sleep about 6 hr stretches, but those hours don't usually coincide with the middle of the night.  He generally wakes up between 2 and 4am every night.  He has slept to 6am a few times but it's definitely not the norm.

We had a big Kilgore family gathering 8/20 and Chloe was in heaven! She LOVES to entertain.  I think she danced the entire night until Mike finally scooped her up and gave her to me to take a bath and go to bed.  She probably would have stayed up until the last person left if we would have let her.

It's been so great having all of the space in the house.  Mike and I joked that we are going to have to put a schedule for the guest room.  We love it though!

Diane and Mike came up Labor Day weekend.  I think Chloe WORE Diane out, but they both loved it!

We have been taking Chloe to Cindy's to keep her routine and I have been staying home with Trey. I have to go back to work Monday and it is going to be super hard to leave the little guy.

Getting Bigger!

When there was just one mouth to feed, one diaper to change, etc it was a little easier to come update the blog.  Even when things aren’t hectic, they are still hectic!  The new house has been put to use quite a bit in the last month.  We’ve had multiple family gatherings, grandma’s and grandpa’s have been in town, and just all the space has made life so much easier.

Trey is growing quite fast.  Chloe grew quick also but she started off at 5lbs 5oz so it seems like Trey is growing quicker but he’s really growing close to the same rate as she did.  We went to the doctor last week with Trey because he started to have some spit up and was very fussy so we figured he was starting to have some reflux.  After starting the medicine, he’s been doing better.  To compare how much better he responded that Chloe did, it took 4 different medication regimens for Chloe and she still wasn’t a 100% controlled.  At the doctor’s office he was 9lb 15.5oz so that rounds up to 10lbs!!!  He is noticeably bigger also.  He outgrew his newborn clothes is less than a month so it was nice that we didn’t buy much of them.  He is not sleeping through the night but we’ve been able to feed him between 10pm and midnight followed by a feeding about 4 hours later so we really have only been needing to get up once in the middle of the night to feed him.  With that said, we are eager for him to sleep through the night.  There is actually some decent data that says kids at 14lbs sleep through the night so at his rate of growth we have about another 4-6wks of getting up to feed him.  Trey definitely needs to be held quite a bit and he knows his mommy.

Chloe is expanding her vocabulary.  The 17-19 month range is when kids tend to explode with new words and she’s definitely following that path.  Previously there was tons of ‘dada’ and now it’s ‘Mike’ and ‘mama’…and ‘Maddie’ too!  We are very lucky that with as often as we have people over to the house that Chloe is so comfortable around others and has no problem letting others hold her and play with her.

We’ve definitely started to have two sets of neighbors that we have got to know better than the others.  However, this week we had someone ring the doorbell in the evening.  When I opened the door, there was a family of three with the mom being pregnant.  The ironic thing is the guy was in my fraternity at KU and a year older.  We knew each other fairly well though because we were on the same intramural soccer (KU champs!), floor hockey (KU champs!), football, and basketball (the good ol’ A-4 bombers) teams.  He and his wife have a 21 month old daughter and she’s due in November.  They live 4 houses to the north of us on the same side of the street.  Tim’s wife is the treasurer for the homeowner’s association so she saw my name and they figured it was us so they showed up with cookies to say welcome to the neighborhood.  Now Chloe can have a friend that is close to her age, and I can have someone to sneak into the basement with to drink beer and watch sports. :)

Kelly is half way done with her maternity leave, which is kind of hard to think Trey’s over 6 weeks old.  Next week, Jarrod and Julie are coming up to KC to stay at the indoor water park and coming over Saturday night.  The following week, we have a large get together of Kelly’s family since a relative is coming into town from California for work but has some free time.  In other words, things aren’t slowing down anytime soon but we like it that way.
