So the Lewis family is inching towards completion of all scheduled renovations of our new house! It has been organized…and sometimes unorganized chaos here since Thursday. We closed last Wednesday but things really started happening Thursday. The movers came Thursday, the counters were installed, and furniture was delivered all on the same day. Friday the backsplash was set and grout placed on Saturday. The popcorn ceiling in the kitchen was removed last week. The new wood kitchen floors were started over the weekend and finished today. The railing in the kitchen that overlooks the family room is about a 1/3 of the way done so when they get that completed Tuesday, things will be completed.
The house is great and we already have met 3 sets of neighbors. Chloe is likely to end up with a friend that is 2 years old and lives behind us. That little girl’s dad said the neighborhood pool is great so that is exciting. We found out today why our house appraised for a surprisingly low value, the neighbor to the south of us bought his house in a foreclosure and fought to get his house appraised for virtually nothing. Apparently, he had the county expand to over a half mile radius to find a house close to the same price as his so that hurt the appraisal value of our house, which is fine. The neighbors two houses to the south of us are professors that have people in the neighborhood over for wine and cheese often, the wife teaches at the University of Arkansas during the week for fall and spring semesters and her husband is a vice chancellor at UMKC. Kelly and I were laughing how our old neighbors two houses to the south of us were a bunch of 30+ year old guys that had enough tattoos to make Hell’s Angels blush and frequently had their own ultimate fighting tournament in their driveway…kind of a change!
Maybe the best thing though is Tuesday will be the first day we don’t have to eat fast food! Chloe’s new highchair is assembled and ready for a normal meal from the fridge/freezer rather than a fast food meal.
While things are nearly completed in terms of being structurally finished, there is still a ton of organizing/donating to Goodwill to be done. Our other house wasn’t full of livable space but it had way more storage space than this house does.
Easter was great. We went over to Kenny and Carrie’s, surprising huh? Chloe got all dolled up and was entertaining as always. She actually made such a good impression on Kenny and Carrie that they came over and took Chloe for the day this Saturday while we were working on the house. Chloe’s top two teeth and in now so when it was once fun to let her chew on your finger, it is now extremely painful since she has some razors for teeth. Her favorite words are ‘dada’, ‘owww’, ‘no’, ‘dog’, sign language for ‘please’, and rarely we get her to say ‘mama.’
Today was Kelly/Trey’s last sonogram. She is 30 weeks on Tuesday and Trey was 3lbs 5oz on the sonogram with everything looking normal and he’s facing down so unless he does something unexpected, it looks like no C section.
Here are some pictures of Easter as well as some of our kitchen.
