Christmas Recap

We hope everyone had a great Christmas.  The Lewis crew went to Wichita last Wednesday and then made the trek to Augusta Christmas Eve.

Wichita was a lot of fun.  I went to the shooting range with Mike D, Scott, and Paul.  The overwhelming consensus is the military would have no use for me unless they need to sacrifice someone on the front line because I can’t hit the target.  Lexi and Chloe put tons of miles on their little feet as they ran all over Nana’s and Papa’s house.  They also got in plenty of dancing…

Due to people spending Christmas day at other houses, we did our gift exchange and Santa came early on the 24th.  It was a lot of fun to see Chloe open gifts and then completely lose focus and move on to another one.  She got a very nice little table and chairs that she has already used quite a bit today after we got home.  It was funny to watch Chloe and Lexi running around with their new umbrellas!

Other sweet gifts…Kelly got a Wii so now this family can finally become addicted to video games since we’ve never owned a gaming system…I got a bbq smoker so Bobby Flay will soon meat (yes pun intended) his master on that battle cooking show.

Chloe also got a set of tap shoes from Aunt Alyssa.  She’s got something, not sure we’d call it rhythm, but she’s got something…

Christmas at the Lewis’ was just as high paced and present packed as the previous day.  Chloe now has enough play kitchen items that she might be able to open her own kiddy catering service.  All Christmas morning she spent giving everyone ‘bite’ and ‘drink’ of coffee from her coffee maker.  I got a promise from my brother to help me install the sprinkler system my parents got me so when spring gets here, our yard will hopefully be looking much better!  Chloe went outside and fed the ‘DUCKS!’ with Grandma and Grandpa. 

Later Christmas night, there were some unexpected visitors.  Chloe had no idea what they were singing but that didn’t mean she wasn’t going to sing.

After opening countless presents, we got back to KC late this morning.  We probably didn’t even have room to put a kleenex in the car because it was packed so tight.

Chloe clearly learned quickly how to make coffee with her new coffee maker as Kelly found out tonight.  She walked into the kitchen and Chloe was getting ‘waaater’ from the refrigerator to make ‘cooooffee’ in her coffee cup and coffee pot.

 

Needless to say, the refrigerator water/ice dispenser has been put on lock.

Our last load of laundry is now finishing up, all presents are washed/put away/etc, both kids are now asleep…and mommy and daddy are exhausted.  We’ll end this with Trey giving us his thoughts on how much fun he had over Christmas.

One Quick Video

Chloe has a new friend.  Her friend’s name is ‘Shadow.’  This friend goes everywhere she does no matter how fast Chloe runs, how hard she stomps on it, or any other method of shaking it from her side.

Ho Ho Ho version 1.0 2010

There are multiple Christmas’ for us this year.  Soon we will be heading to Wichita and then Augusta.  However, we wanted to do our own Christmas gift exchange in the new house so we did it yesterday.  Trey got lots of hugs and kisses and promises he’ll get gifts next year.  Chloe received something called a V reader which is a essentially a digital book that reads to her and has many other options.  She also got a huge aqua doodle pad.

Mommy gave daddy a Weber Q grill so now he doesn’t have to lug around the old charcoal grill to tailgate.  Daddy gave mommy a cooking class at a culinary center in KC that she will also take Chloe too.  If you are wondering what the last picture is, it’s Kelly crying.  Yes, the girl that many once thought had no emotions is now a huge softy.

It’s unlikely we will have any other posts to the blog before Christmas so Merry Christmas to everyone!

Some More Videos

Chloe has her own blow dryer, Mommy’s hand me down.  It works well for her since it has a cool setting.  Also, here’s a video of the breakfast with Santa.

Eating in Style

No, we aren’t talking about a nice outfit regarding Trey’s style.  We decided that after a few weeks of him spitting cereal and oatmeal back at us that we would give him some food that had some flavor…and matched his hair.

He definitely liked his carrots.  It’s his first vegetable so we’re feeling good that he’s 1 for 1 in terms of liking healthy foods!  Here are some more pictures.  And for those that might remember, that is the same bumbo chair Chloe sat in seemingly until her 1 year birthday…we’re pretty sure Trey won’t fit in it as long as Chloe did.

‘Tis the Season!

As you can see, Chloe didn’t exactly think Santa was that neat of a guy this morning.  We went to Grandma Karen’s work because they have an annual pancake breakfast with Santa.  Despite a significant number of ‘Sannnnnntaaa’ comments from Chloe in the last week and her daddy being on a Santa look-a-like weight plan lately, she was not the least bit excited to be on his lap.  Trey was the angel of the two and was more than content to let Santa hold him.

Chloe did come around though when we ate breakfast.  Nearly two pancakes and a sausage link later, she was properly introducing and excusing herself out of every conversation in the building with ‘HIIIII’ and ‘BYEEEE’ two seconds after greeting people.

Chloe has been more manipulative than normal lately and is able to squeeze a few more ‘BOOOOOK’ readings from mommy or daddy before going to sleep.  Tonight was a different book.  Mommy and daddy just had to hold the book and kiddos while Grandma Lewis did the reading.

New Toy and More

Trey’s got a new toy and it’s a wonderful multi-purpose toy.  It works for entertainment, helping his development, and as a baby sitter…

The person that took the above picture was consuming an alcoholic beverage and watching football; hence, the babysitter comment posted above.

Trey had his 4 month well child check last week and he tipped the scales at 14 lbs 2 oz and 24 inches long.  That puts him in the 10-20 percentile for height and weight so it’s nice to see family genetics are already rearing their ugly identity with him.

Chloe is currently in a repeat everything somebody says mode.  Oatmeal, cereal, daddy is the best to ever walk the earth, and apple are some of her new things to say.  Oh yeah…and DOOOORA!!  She has Dora slippers and a ton of Dora stickers that Chloe is extremely interested in having often as well as Dora on the TV.

Chloe has been working on her life skills and earning her keep around the house.  The most recent skill is her attention to floor tidiness.

No doubt, kids grow up amazingly fast.  Just the other day it seems Chloe was crawling but now she’s driving.  It’s yet to be determined who is the better driver between Chloe and mommy.

Happy Halloween and Trey’s Baptism!

Last weekend was hectic to say the least.  Chloe started off the weekend with a birthday party for a little girl down the street on Saturday.  Since it was atypically warm for October, she didn’t get to wear her original costume.  Thankfully, Grandma Lewis had brought a tutu up for Chloe so she was a ballerina Saturday.  The birthday party was very neat as they had multiple little stations set up for the kids to play at in their back yard.  Chloe’s favorite was the bubble machine…she loves her bubbles.

Sunday morning was Trey’s baptism at St Pius.  We were very nervous how both Chloe and Trey would do since mass was at 11:00.  Chloe didn’t get her morning nap and Trey has been eating quite a bit during the day.  Trey slept all through mass and was great during the baptism.  He actually smiled when the oil was put on his forehead and when the water was poured over his head.  Chloe needed some time to run around but she was awesome too.  Kenny and Carrie are the godparents!  After the baptism, everyone came back to the house to eat BBQ and watch the Chiefs game.

Sunday night was obviously Halloween.  The weather was much more what you would expect for late October.  Chloe and Trey both had costumes and we went out to raid the neighborhood with Grandma Lewis.  Trey didn’t last as long as Chloe due to the cold weather.  It took some time, but Chloe started to get into a groove.  Once she got a bite of Reese’s, she was quick to each house and grab in her stash of candy.  She also wouldn’t let anyone carry her trick or treat pumpkin OR her!

Trey & Blue Bear…4 Months Together

It's crazy to think Trey is already 4mos old. He sits up some and has rolled over a few times from tummy to back. He had about a week when he was sleeping through the night, but he's reverted back to wanting a 3am snack. The scariest thought though...he's just one diaper size below Chloe!
