Goings on…
We apologize for not keeping things up for awhile on the blog. I’m currently working nights, and Kelly has been working a fair amount during the day and at night from home so work alone has been busy. It’s been tough also because I have not been able to see Kelly or Chloe much during the week except for about an hour to two hours at most each day and that is in the morning when I get home before they leave. Only one more week of nights for me and then my schedule goes to a fairly relaxed one during the next couple months. Life for us should slow down some. Plus, we leave for the lake in two weeks! It will be a well timed break for the Lewis’!
There has been one large event recently for us. Last week, the chair of the peds department at KU told me he wants to discuss hiring me as a faculty member for the year between residency and when I start my fellowship training for hematology/oncology. It would be a position that will likely include me doing some outpatient peds, urgent care, full term nursery, and inpatient care. The nursery isn’t something that I enjoy but it is fairly laid back and any kids that are remotely sick get transferred to the NICU so there is little stress involved with it. The inpatient setting is what I enjoy most and I’d rotate with a few other doctors. Nothing is close to final and things are just in the in the beginning stages, but I suspect this will be where I end up for a year after residency.
Kelly has been getting increasingly busier with work, which has been even more difficult since she’s really the only person around to take care of Chloe Monday-Friday afternoon. We almost had our first real crisis a few weeks ago…Kelly was told she would need to travel for a few days to Memphis. I’m not sure Kelly would have been able to tolerate being away from Chloe for more than a day so it’s a good thing her trip got squashed.
Below are some pictures we took of Chloe recently.
Chloe’s film debut!!!
After a nerdy ill-informed Best Buy employee telling us the new computer we bought had everything we needed to transfer videos from the camcorder to the computer, we realized we needed a fire wire card. It then took us driving all over half of KC to find a place that stocks fire wire cards for slim desktop CPUs. Finally, all things are installed and after much delay…here’s Chloe!
